Cracking apple brandy blended from eaux-de-vie aged between three to five years, with a delicious aromatic fresh apple palate and strong vanilla hints.

Nose: Freshly baked bread, aromatic oak and apples. Lots and lots of sweet apples.

Mellow peat thanks to the Sherry maturation: Tight and nervous nose, fresh and floral, grilled almond. Powerful and nervous, it feels rounded with liquorice flavours. Silky texture. Nice length, very fresh, round, spicy and pepper, slightly toasted.

Like a fight between Sherry and Peat: “Candid” means that this whisky has been bottled just before that peat disappears because of wood ageing. Candid malt whisky was the whisky made in 2008 : the first Islay whisky that convinced us to continue this kind of maturation.

2000 to 2016

Sansibar Whisky is an independent bottler. It was in 2012 when the company commenced their business and initially they were eyed with critical distrust. However, single-cask bottlings with the logo of Germany’s most famous beach restaurant have won a large community of devoted fans within a very short time.

Sansibar Whisky is actually the brainchild of Carsten Ehrlich, the organizer of the Whisky Fair Limburg and Jens Drewitz. Eric Huang of Spirits Shop Selection and Jens have been friends for a very long time, and they’ve had many a dram together in all these years. Eventually, while sitting over some drinks, they had the idea to create a combination of dine, wine and whisky.

Sansibar Restaurant on the isle of Sylt was their first choice, because that’s just a top brand. But of course the people at Sansibar hadn’t been waiting for Jens and Carsten. It took three years before they could convince the owner of Sansibar. At first, everyone had different ideas on how the business should be run. Finally, we agreed that they search and purchase the barrels, then bottle the whisky under the label of Sansibar and make these bottles available at the restaurant.

Sansibar is a trademark that belongs to Herbert Seckler, the owner of Sansibar Restaurant. Sansibar Whisky is an independent company.

There is good reason for such a success: the people behind the company are old hands in the whisky business.

Couvreur Cap a Pie Whisky Blend 45% 700ml

First edition in 2018, it should become a classic! Our usual “The Unique whisky” with a higher proportion of Malt Whiskies. Iodized fragrance with a hint of almond, vanilla sweetness, light floral, white fruit. On the palate nervous but very round with a hint of Sherry. Gourmand and drinkable, it is drunk as an aperitif at low temperatures. The high proportion of malt whiskies make that after tastes become more complex.
